Knicks GM: Teams wanted first-rounder for Joakim Noah

Joakim Noah

Knicks general manager Scott Perry never saw Joakim Noah as a good match for this rebuilding 2018-19 Knicks team, and said trading him or releasing him via the league’s stretch provision was the only measure that made sense.

Noah was finally waived Saturday after Perry had tried to trade him since late January. Teams wanted the Knicks to throw in a first-round pick to even consider taking on the $72 million pact of the former Bulls center.

“That decision was made in the best interest of the Knicks, first and foremost,’’ Perry said.
