The New York Knicks became one of free agency’s most active teams, signing players like Bobby Portis, Julius Randle and Taj Gibson to multi-year contracts with team options. Their raid of the open market increased to five players, but the day’s work was not done.
According to Stadium and The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Knicks will sign Elfrid Payton to a two-year, $16 million deal, with a team option for the second season. It is identical to Wayne Ellington’s contract signed earlier Monday.
Payton spent 2018-19 with the New Orleans Pelicans, averaging 10.
