Jimmermania is coming to White Plains.
The Westchester Knicks made upstate Glens Falls product Jimmer Fredette the second overall pick in Saturday’s D-League draft.
But there’s no plans to have the 6-foot-2 sharpshooting Fredette fill the Knicks open 15th roster spot. The move was designed mostly as a gate attraction and not strictly a developmental move. Of course, if he lights it up…
Westchester is considered the Knicks D-League affiliate, but the entity is not a true
minor league. Fredette, released by San Antonio in preseason, can be signed by any NBA team.
Nevertheless, Fredette, 26, and his Westchester mates do practice at the Knicks’ Tarrytown facility.
