It was all kind of a joke... until it was not. This whole captain thing doesn’t mean that much in the grand scheme of things, let alone in the full NBA landscape, but it means a lot within the New York Knicks organization.
So much so, in fact, that the franchise held a damn event inside the walls of Madison Square Garden on August 8 to make Jalen Brunson’s captaincy official. With it, JB became the 36th captain in Knicks history after Lance Thomas last got the honor and he’s adding one more entry to a long list of NYK legends that includes players such as Patrick Ewing, Bernard King, Carmelo Anthony, Walt Frazier, and well.
