The Knicks were shut out on their Western trip and appeared to be shot down by a comment made last weekend in Los Angeles by Kawhi Leonard.
Leonard told New York reporters he did not consider the Knicks a free-agent option during this past offseason.
Knicks brass, however, did not consider Leonard’s comment a blow. In fact, it only confirmed the decision to pass on a meeting with the 2019 Finals MVP that would have taken place four days into free agency.
The Post reported then that the Knicks considered themselves extreme long shots for Leonard.
