“I used to be jealous of Arron Afflalo.”
Kendrick Lamar uttered those words over the haunting melodies of, “Black Boy Fly.” The song can be found on the critically-renowned, “Good Kid, M.A.A.D City,” which means you’ve likely heard it before.
Afflalo began to connect the dots in a piece he wrote for The Players’ Tribune.
Afflalo is a local legend on the West Coast, rising from Compton to become the 2007 Pac-10 Player of the Year and an NBA starter. He’s also a former bootlegger who sold CDs at a lower cost to help local kids afford them.
