The NBA Cup has led to a weird schedule quirk for the New York Knicks and the rest of the league. In the middle of December, while a select few teams battled for the NBA Cup in Las Vegas, teams effectively got a mini-break, with just one game for the Knicks from December 12th to 18th. In this one-game week, the Knicks shipped down to Orlando in a de facto consolation game for the NBA Cup, not dissimilar to what they did after losing in Milwaukee during last year’s NBA Cup quarterfinal. This game feels like it should’ve been in MSG, but to prevent a schedule fiasco, it was put in Orlando.
