Jeanie Buss: Phil Jackson set himself up to fail with Knicks

Phil Jackson made plenty of mistakes in three years as Knicks president.

He gave $72 million to Joakim Noah, who provided 53 games of service to the Knicks before finally being waived this weekend. He hired Derek Fisher as head coach, and inserted Kurt Rambis as the interim coach less than two years later. He gave Carmelo Anthony a no-trade clause. He traded for Derrick Rose. He traded away Tyson Chandler and Tim Hardaway Jr., and J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert, and received far less in return.

But his ex-fiancee, Jeannie Buss, says Jackson’s tenure was destined to be a disaster because of the Knicks’ deep-rooted internal issues, and learned from the failure in her ownership of the Lakers.
