Isiah Thomas’ Liberty ownership bid shut down — for now

Isiah Thomas is postponing his bid for partial ownership of the New York Liberty, likely putting it off until after the WNBA season.

Thomas will remain in his duties as team president.

The WNBA formed a committee to vet the ownership application submitted by Thomas, a protagonist in an infamous sexual harassment trial in 2007. Madison Square Garden paid upwards of $11 million in damages to Anucha Browne Sanders for creating a hostile work environment while Thomas was running the Knicks.

The ownership review process is expected to take an extended period, and Thomas prefers to be focused on the day-to-day operations of the Liberty, which is off to a 4-2 start.
