Mike Miller wouldn’t say the change is permanent, but the Knicks’ interim coach liked what he saw in his new starting point guard for one night.
Elfrid Payton, who replaced Frank Ntilikina in the starting lineup in Saturday’s 123-102 loss to the Bucks at the Garden, had 10 assists, four steals and just two turnovers in 27 minutes.
“The one thing we’ve seen him do consistently here since he’s come back from his injury, he’s helping other people,” Miller said. “And you have to have that facilitator and that guy who does it. He’s taken that role and he’s done a very good job with it.
