When Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports reported in the summer of 2022 that OG Anunoby was looking for a bigger role in the Raptor’s offense, many, including myself, scoffed at the idea. While Anunoby had established himself as a great corner three-point shooter who was also adept as a cutter, he hadn’t shown the ability to consistently create shots for himself or others. And because of that, it was difficult to fathom how you could get an offensive role player more involved. Sure, you could run a few more plays for him here and there, but ultimately, giving a larger role to a non-creator who relies on his teammates to get the majority of his shot attempts seemed somewhat foolish.
