LOS ANGELES — Officials say a Los Angeles police detective found shot to death at a suburban home was frequently assigned to high-profile cases including an investigation into an accusation of rape against NBA star Derrick Rose.
LAPD Officer Liliana Preciado said Wednesday that Detective Nadine Hernandez was found shot to death in Whittier. Police there found the 44-year-old Hernandez on Tuesday with a gunshot wound and she died at a hospital.
Whittier detectives have not said if they’re investigating the death as a homicide or suicide.
Preciado says Hernandez was a detective in the Robbery-Homicide Division Special Assault Section.
