Derek Fisher praises ‘character’ of J.R. Smith-less Knicks

Derek Fisher took a poke at the intangibles of last season’s team when saying the strength of his 2015-16 no-name Knicks is “character’’ and “professional mindset.’’

Fisher is getting a kick out of repeating almost every day the club is short on “sexy names’’ but long on integrity.

“Character, professional mindset,’’ Fisher said Thursday when listing the team’s strengths during training camp at West Point. “You’re not in the NBA if you’re not talented. We don’t have to get into who’s talented. The character of our group and the way we’re approaching what’s going on daily, those are going to be the strengths.
