Dennis Smith Jr. will don a new integer on the back of his jersey next season, switching to number four instead of five in an attempt to harken back to his days at NC State.
The change was first reported by Marc Berman of the New York Post, who cited “an NBA source.” Gregg Schwartz, vice president of public relations for the Knicks, confirmed the news in a Thursday evening email. DSJ was number four back in college, where he played one season and averaged 18 points (45% from the field, 36% from three), 6 assists, 5 rebounds and 2 steals.
