The last time that the New York Knicks had two back-to-back first-round picks was nearly 30 years ago in 1996. Before that year’s draft, the Knicks led by the 90’s core of Patrick Ewing, Charles Oakley, and John Starks, finished the year with a 47-35 record. They earned the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, and would ultimately go on to lose the Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman’s 72-10 Chicago Bulls team in the second round of the 1996 Playoffs.
The 1996-97 roster was one of the Knicks all-time best. It was a mix and old school and new school.
