DALLAS – A lighter David Lee has found a new home in Big D, but won’t rule out a return to New York this summer when he becomes a free agent.

Lee revealed the Knicks inquired as he negotiated his buyout from the Celtics in late February. The Knicks had an open roster spot.

Lee, a rebounding stalwart, does not fill a major position need at power forward, but may come cheap and they could lose Kevin Seraphin to free agency. Lee has long been a favorite of the Knicks organization — from owner James Dolan down to GM Steve Mills, who was there when Isiah Thomas drafted Lee with the 30th pick in 2005.
