David Fizdale doesn’t expect to get emotional over his return to Memphis. Instead, looking back at his firing there in November 2017, he views himself as fortunate because it led to where he is today.
“I ended up becoming the head coach of the New York Knicks, and how lucky is that for me to land [here] after it was a tough moment [for me],” he said Saturday. “I’m very lucky to have this opportunity.”
Fizdale said his focus on Sunday is more about continuing his team’s recent improved play — the Knicks (6-14) are coming off consecutive wins over the Celtics and Pelicans — than his feelings about facing his old team.
