MEMPHIS – Emmanuel Mudiay was in the audience for David Fizdale’s introductory press conference in May. At the podium, in his opening remarks, the coach turned to Mudiay and stated, “We’ll get you right.’’
Fizdale has made good on his campaign promise.
Friday’s victory over the Pelicans was all about Mudiay carrying the Knicks to a late comeback with a 15-point fourth quarter and now he faces another Fizdale charge in Memphis point guard Mike Conley on Sunday at FedEx Forum.
After missing more than two weeks to start the season with a sprained ankle and looking like he may not ever gain a rotation spot, Mudiay was named starting point guard in Oklahoma City on Nov 14 and has done a lot toward keeping the job permanently despite Trey Burke’s surge.
