Welcome to the not-so-exclusive club of former Knicks coaches, David Fizdale. You have plenty of company.
Fizdale was relieved of his duties on Friday, fired early in his second season after a disastrous start and a 21-83 record as Knicks coach, ESPN.com reported. Assistant coach Keith Smart was also axed.
The writing has been on the wall for a while, ever since president Steve Mills and general manager Scott Perry held an impromptu press conference following an ugly loss to the Cavaliers at the Garden on Nov. 11.
After Thursday night’s 37-point loss to the Nuggets, Fizdale called the performance “sickening,” an apt description for this season, with the Knicks a ghastly 4-18.
