DETROIT – Mario Hezonja hasn’t exactly been an offensive threat since the Knicks moved him into the starting lineup.
Heading into Tuesday night's game against the Pistons, however, the Knicks had gone 3-1 with Hezonja in the starting unit despite his totaling only 11 points while shooting 23.8 percent. When asked at the team’s shootaround why he has stuck with the cold-shooting Croatian, Fizdale talked about the advances the 6-8 Hezonja has made on defense.
“He’s really competing defensively. His size at that position has been helping us. But he really has been taking the challenge defensively for us.
