LAS VEGAS — Call it delusions of grandeur but Carmelo Anthony believes the Knicks had a “great’’ shot at nailing LaMarcus Aldridge in free agency. Aldridge signed with the Spurs, looking to make another championship run.
After the second day of the U.S. Olympic Team minicamp, Anthony revealed how heavily he tried recruiting players, including Aldridge, DeAndre Jordan and Greg Monroe.
It was reported in early July Aldridge was not interested because the Knicks wanted him to play center. Anthony plays part-time power forward and rookie Kristaps Porzingis is deemed a power forward, as well.
“We could’ve gotten LaMarcus,’’ Anthony said.
