Carmelo Anthony didn’t need any convincing.
As soon as he heard about a new public service announcement directed by Spike Lee that calls for an end to gun violence, he wanted to be involved.
“That was big for me,” he said of the commercial to be aired on Christmas Day. “As soon as I got the call, I committed to it.”
The spot, a collaboration between the NBA and Everytown.org, features 35 gun violence survivors and “includes stories of everyday gun violence in urban communities to mass shootings in Newtown, Aurora and Tucson.” It ends with survivors offering a terrifying message: “In the United States, 88 people die of gun violence every day.
