SAN FRANCISCO – The Knicks might as well forfeit.
After saying at the morning shootaround he would play against the Warriors, Carmelo Anthony flip-flopped and elected to sit out Thursday’s game with what the Knicks called a sore right shoulder. Anthony had issues with his left shoulder three years ago when he had a slight rotator cuff tear.
Anthony has struggled the past two games: a wretched 3-of-15 in Phoenix on Tuesday, following a 4-of-16 sputtering at Staples Center. He said he’d take a rest day soon, but wanted to put it off until after the Knicks’ West Coast trip.
