BALTIMORE (CBSNewYork/AP) — Among the hundreds marching in Baltimore in support of Freddie Gray on Thursday was NBA star Carmelo Anthony, who moved to the city as a child.
“We’re being heard. We’ve just got to be careful to do it the right way. We can’t become violent … we’ve got to be patient,” said Anthony, the New York Knicks start who was born in Brooklyn.
The 30-year-old posted a message on Instagram earlier this week calling for calm in the city.
“Everybody saw what happened. It’s out there. Everybody saw what happened,” Anthony told WJZ-TV in Baltimore, referring to footage of Gray, who died in police custody.
