Carmelo Anthony Calls For Calm Amid Riots In Baltimore

BALTIMORE (CBSNewYork) — Carmelo Anthony says residents of Baltimore need to “build our city up not tear it down” with unrest at a boiling point following the death of Freddie Gray in police custody earlier this month.

Anthony — a Brooklyn-born star of the New York Knicks who was raised in Baltimore — took to social media as riots broke out Monday night, forcing Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan to declare a state of emergency.

“I know my community is fed up,” Anthony wrote on Instagram. “I’m all about fighting for what we believe in.
