That season, the Knicks were planning on taking Stephen Curry with the No. 8 pick, but the Warriors scooped him up one spot before. This offseason, the Knicks were the losers of the draft lottery, dropping to No. 4 and missing out on the three can’t-miss rookies (Karl-Anthony Towns, D’Angelo Russell and Jahlil Okafor).
Now, just seven months after Kristaps Porzingis was booed off the stage by Knicks fans on draft night, there’s hope he can be the same kind of franchise savior Curry has become for the Warriors.
