Just a couple of weeks ago, I claimed that a Summer League does not make, break, or define a career. And I still stand by that. But what Summer League games can do though, is give fans hope and even sometimes excite them to an almost unreasonable level. Which is what happened to many of us yesterday when we watched Tyler Kolek playing as a New York Knick for the first time.
Everybody knew about the passing and playmaking Kolek showed off in college. And Summer League is not always a good indicator of what a player will do in the NBA given the obvious difference.
