Brandon Jennings has eyed this Knicks fans love for a long time

As Brandon Jennings sees it, the Garden chant should have started many years ago.

“I feel like myself again,’’ Jennings said late Monday night, an hour after the entire arena chanted his name during the third quarter of the Knicks’ preseason victory over Washington. “I should’ve been here when I first got drafted, but that’s another story. But timing is everything.’’

Seven years after then-Knicks president Donnie Walsh passed on him with the eighth pick in the draft to select power-forward bust Jordan Hill, Jennings still looks like the perfect fit.

As he makes a comeback from an Achilles tendon tear, the left-handed backup to point guard Derrick Rose has quickly left a big impression on the fan base with his fire through three preseason games.
