Ex-Knick Amar’e Stoudemire shared his feelings about what he believes are law enforcement’s flaws, saying too many “bad officers’’ are not following the teachings of the police academy, adding, “Your job is to provide safety and don’t be so quick to use force.”
Stoudemire is not new to the issue of the police’s treatment of black Americans. In fact, he has been concerned for a while. He was the first NBA player to send out a strong message in 2012 after 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was gunned down by a security patrolman in Sanford, Fla. — not far from Stoudemire’s hometown of Lake Wales.
