The Knicks haven’t truly thrived this season in anything other than draft-lottery positioning, so undrafted rookie Allonzo Trier certainly can be counted as a rare success story.
Trier, who was slowed by a December hamstring injury, had slumped immediately after converting his two-way contract into a guaranteed deal potentially worth $7 million later that month. But the first-year shooting guard has averaged 19.4 points per game over his past five appearances entering Saturday’s home matinee against Sacramento, including 29 points in a road loss to the Kings on Monday.
