Golden State Warriors assistant coach Luke Walton will be a top candidate for every head coach vacancy across the league in one offseason, but he has already taken himself out of consideration for a high-profile gig.
According to the New York Daily News' Frank Isola, Walton told the New York Knicks he isn't interested in the job.
Luke Walton, according to NBA source, told P Jackson that as of right now he's not interested in NYK job. Unclear if/when they'll talk again

Walton was a favorite to land the Knicks job since he played under president Phil Jackson while he was the head coach of the Lakers, and the two maintained a close relationship since. However, it doesn't seem that's enough to get him to leave Golden State.
One potential dealbreaker for Walton may have been Jackson's insistence on running the Triangle offense in New York, while Walton wants to employ a more run-and-gun, three-point oriented attack, similar to what the Warriors run.
Walton served as Golden State's interim head caoch at the start of the season while Kerr was sidelined after offseason back surgery, and he led the Warriors to the best start in NBA history.
