The NBA finals only just ended, but the New York Knicks have focused on the offseason for some time now. The draft is just two days away and the Knicks are also preparing the start of free agency on July 1. Although they lack a draft pick there's plenty of buzz around the Knicks, with most of that focusing on what they Knicks will do in free agency. Here are all the latest Knicks rumors and news you need to know.
Knicks Chances With Kevin Durant?
New York was never viewed as a real threat to land Durant, although they did have a slim shot. Frank Isola of the New York Daily News reports the Knicks were appealing to Durant, but that changed when they fired head coach Derek Fisher.
"Durant has a long list of suitors including the Knicks, who no doubt damaged themselves when Phil Jackson fired Durant’s former teammate, Derek Fisher," Isola writes. "Durant and Fisher are close. Durant also admires Porzingis, whom he nicknamed the Unicorn. But OKC management breathed a sigh of relief when Fisher was suddenly ousted as Knicks coach. They believed the Knicks were a serious threat. Now? Not so much."
Durant was originally going to hold his free agency meetings in New York, although that has changed as well. He'll hold them in Los Angeles, where he has a summer home. The Knicks' chances of landing Durant at this point are nonexistent.
Status Of Afflalo And Williams Opt Outs
It might not come as a major surprise at this point, but guard Arron Afflalo and forward Derrick Williams exercised their player options for this offseason.
Arron Afflalo, Derrick Williams have told the Knicks that they will not opt in to their contracts for 2016-17, per league sources.

Afflalo was set to make $8 million next year and Williams $4.6 million. Afflalo in particular might not be back, as he was relegated to the bench last year and wasn't that happy about it.
