With the clock ticking down until the NBA Trade Deadline on Thursday at 3:00 pm ET, Chat Sports is reviewing the biggest rumors surrounding the New York Knicks. Here's what you need to know:
Knicks aggressively shopping Derrick Rose
The Knicks are looking to sell at the deadline and are actively trying to get rid of Derrick Rose, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.
Teams have told me in the last 24 hours that (the Knicks) have been really aggressive trying to move Derrick Rose for almost anything, to see if they can get any value back for him.
Rose, who is averaging 17.7 points and 4.5 assists per game, has been linked to the Minnesota Timberwolves in recent days.
New York interested in Rubio
While Minnesota is interested in Rose, the Knicks are also interested in getting Ricky Rubio from the Timberwolves, according to ESPN's Ian Begley.
The Timberwolves are motivated to move Ricky Rubio because team president and coach Tom Thibodeau sees rookie Kris Dunn as the franchise's point guard of the future.
A Rubio-for-Rose swap works under the salary-cap guidelines, as explained by ESPN’s Tom Penn.
Some in the Knicks organization are wary of taking back any player who has multiple years remaining on his contract, according to sources familiar with the team’s thinking. That might factor in if Rubio is being offered -- the 26-year-old is under contract for a total of $29 million over the next two seasons -- though others who have been in touch with the Knicks recently came away with the impression that Jackson is a fan of Rubio.
Rubio is averaging 8.9 points and 8.4 assists per game this season.
Knicks unlikely to trade Carmelo Anthony before trade deadline
The other All-Star caliber player who's name is on the trade block is Carmelo Anthony, but Wojnarowski and Chris Mannix report that he is expected to stay with the Knicks through the rest of the season.
"The Knicks have not brought anything to his [Anthony's] group that would inspire them to really want to waive this no-trade clause," Wojnarowski said. "Most of the teams who had interest in him are looking in other directions right now and expect Melo to remain in New York, at least for the rest of this season."
Anthony is averaging 23.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game this season.
