The New York Knicks haven't made any moves in free agency yet, but they are targeting a former member of the San Antonio Spurs. The Knicks have reached out to SF Jonathon Simmons.

As the Spurs so often do, they found a diamond in the rough with Simmons. A bench player, he put up 6.2 points per game in 17.8 minutes of action this year. He thrived in the playoffs, especially when Kawhi Leonard was injured. In the postseason, Simmons put up 10.5 points in 20.4 minutes per game.
Any offer the Knicks made for Simmons would likely have to approach the $10 million per year mark. The Spurs are willing to offer him $9 million and there's some loyalty to the Spurs from Simmons. Before San Antonio picked him up, Simmons was a D-leaguer and an ABL player.

That price tag might be a bit too much for the Knicks. They're in the midst of a rebuilding process and would need to move Carmelo Anthony to help free up minutes for Simmons. At age 27, he might not quite fight their timeline either.
