The New York Knicks finished the season with the second-worst record in NBA, and both fans and the front office are hoping to turn the franchise around as quickly as possible. Here's the latest on their free agency plans:
Greg Monroe spurns Knicks, signs with Bucks
Free agent big man Greg Monroe will sign a three-year, $50 million deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, according to Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The New York Knicks were expected to sign Monroe, but after meeting with the Bucks on Wednesday night, he decided to sign with Milwaukee. Monroe was seeking a max contract, but the Knicks weren't willing to offer him that kind of money, and ended up losing him.
he 25-year-old spent his first five seasons in the league with the Detroit Pistons, but he was uninterested in returning to the team. He averaged 15.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game last season.
Knicks to meet with DeAndre Jordan Thursday morning
With Monroe now off the market, the Knicks have made DeAndre Jordan their top free agent priority.
He met with the Los Angeles Lakers Wednesday night, and will meet with the Knicks Thursday morning before meeting with the Clippers Thursday night.
Jordan is looking for a more prominent offensive role, and if New York can offer that to him in their meeting, they could sign him shortly after he meets with the Clippers. The 26-year-old averaged 11.5 points and 15.0 rebounds per game last season.
New York signs Arron Afflalo
The Knicks have signed shooting guard Arron Afflalo to a two-year, $16 million contract, according to multiple reports.
Afflalo was one of New York's top targets in free agency, and wasted little time signing him. The 29-year-old averaged 13.3 points and 3.2 rebounds per game with the Denver Nuggets and Portland Trail Blazers last season.
