What's the next step for the New York Knicks after the first weekend of NBA free agency? Here's our Knicks Free Agency Rumors Roundup For July 7th.
Jason Smith to Orlando
Jason Smith, who played a reserve role for the Knicks last season, has signed a one-year deal with the Orlando Magic for $4.3 million, according to RealGM. The most New York could pay Smith was $2.8 million next season.
Quincy Acy to Orlando, too?
After completing a sign-and-trade with the Knicks which will send F/C Kyle O'Quinn to New York, the Orlando Magic are reportedly targeting Knicks free agent forward Quincy Acy to fill O'Quinn's vacated spot in the rotation.
Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders reports that the Magic "like him a lot," but they'll have to do battle with a host of other reported suitors including the San Antonio Spurs, New Orleans Pelicans and Sacramento Kings.
Knicks looking to retain Alexey Shved
According to a New York Post report, the Knicks are "trying to find a way to retain...combo guard Alexey Shved, but that may not be possible if they get offers higher than $2.8 million. Jackson plans to re-sign Lou Amundson and Lance Thomas for the vet’s minimum."
Shved is "appreciative of the chance the Knicks gave him," according to the New York Post, and is expected to re-sign for the full $2.8 million exception.
