The New York Knicks appear set to enter a rebuilding stage, but they're still expected to make a few moves during NBA Free Agency. The Knicks need to make a decision on Carmelo Anthony, find a new president to replace Phil Jackson and maybe add a veteran point guard. With free agency set to start at 12:01 p.m. ET on July 1st, here are all the latest Knicks rumors and storylines to watch for during NBA Free Agency.
We'll update this post with any new rumors or news.
Carmelo Anthony
The Cavs have interest in landing Anthony, but only if he's bought out by the Knicks. So far, the Knicks are insistent on trading Anthony, in an attempt to get something back. The Houston Rockets, with Anthony's friend Chris Paul now on the roster, are another serious option. Anthony would likely end up on the Rockets via a trade.
The Knicks won't make a decision on Anthony's future until they get a new president, per the New York Post. So, expect any move with Anthony to wait until the initial rush of free agency passes.
Kristaps Porzingis
Phil Jackson was the one who shopped Porzingis before and during the NBA Draft and he's now gone. However, ESPN's Ian Begley reports there were several members of the organization who were in favor of moving Porzingis. A deal is highly unlikely now that the draft has passed, but the Knicks and Porzingis still need to get on the same page after Porzingis skipped his exit interview.

Knicks And Point Guards
The Knicks drafted Frank Ntilikina in the first round of the NBA Draft, but the Knicks are still looking for more point guard help with Derrick Rose set to be a free agent. Ntilikina is still raw and young, so the Knicks are in the market for a veteran stop-gap option. Jeff Teague and George Hill are among the names that interest the Knicks, per ESPN. However, New York might need to clear cap space to land either. There's mutual interest between the Knicks and Teague. The Knicks could also elect to re-sign Derrick Rose. Jrue Holiday interests the Knicks, who also plan on bringing back his brother Justin, reports the New York Post. However, Holiday is expected to re-sign with the Pelicans.
Phil Jackson's Replacement
With Phil Jackson out, the Knicks are looking for a new president of basketball operations. Names like John Calipari, Isiah Thomas and Raptors president Masai Ujiri have all essentially been removed from the running. That leaves David Griffin, formerly of the Cleveland Cavs as the top target for New York. ESPN reports he's already had an initial conversation with the Knicks and will have more. He's the current front-runner for the job.
