Yahoo! Sports is reporting, "Chris Paul's agent informed New Orleans Hornets officials on Wednesday that his client will not sign a contract extension and wants to be traded to the New York Knicks."
Obviously, this is tremendous news for Knicks fans as players usually get what they want (see Melo trade last year). But realistically the Knicks just don't have the assets or players to even remotely intrigue the Hornets. The best package the Knicks can offer would include guys like Billups, Shumpert, Fields, Douglas, and picks for like 5 years into the future. Meanwhile, other teams like the Celtics are also interested in Paul and can center a deal around Rajon Rondo which would be a lot more attractive to Hornets general manager Dell Demps.
As a Knicks fan, I would be absolutely estatic if they could find a way to bring CP3 to the Big Apple, but I wouldn't be surprised if he gets traded elsewhere and signs with the Knicks in the offseason.
PS, if I were running the Knicks (listen up James Dolan) I would offer Melo for Paul straight up and then sign some free agents. I'm just sayin...
