The Knicks and Elton Brand are said to have mutual interest, according to several NBA writers. Of course, the problem remains, as always, with the Knicks' salary cap space, of which there is pretty much none. If Brand signed for the veterans minimum - $1.4 million for Brand - perhaps New York could squeeze him in. Of course Brand is probably much more inclined to signed for one of the two mid-level exceptions, worth $5 million and $3.2 million.
The 34-year old Brand and his 7.2 points per game with the Mavericks last year are certainly not worth $5 million, even for one year. And $3.2 million would be pushing it. Money aside, however, Brand would be a reliable asset for a very talented but volatile Knicks squad.

There's mutual interest between Knicks and Elton Brand, but Brand is fielding offers from several top teams. Nothing imminent.
