To get to fix a patellar tendon and some torn meniscus on his left knee, JR Smith went through surgery after just having signed a four year deal that was worth a $25 million extension. And the General Manager of the team Glen Grunwald displays no sense of panic or worry over this.
They believe that it is something which can be fixed and that it won’t pose any troubles in the future for the succeeding four years. Grunwald maintained the answer that they were fully aware of the severity of the player’s injury which already dated back to October. When the season ended last May 19, they allowed Smith to decide on the next steps of treatment to take.
Smith, on the other hand, wanted to avoid surgery but not when the team’s medical staff recommended this option to finally put an end to the problem. However, this might let him miss the beginning of the regular season.
Grunwald said that at first, Smith thought putting his injury into rehab can help it heal without going through surgery. But this just took most of his time. The New York Knicks did not reveal the actual surgery process that was performed on the player’s tendon but everyone is looking forward to his recovery soon.
