The Knicks and veteran point guard Jason Kidd agreed to a surprise deal on Thursday. Kidd, 39, was expected to re-sign with Dallas, but chose the Knicks' multi-year offer.
It is not clear if Kidd is being brought in to start at point guard, compete with Jeremy Lin, or simply be a 2nd option at point. What is clear is that Kidd will be tasked with mentoring Jeremy Lin's development into a starting point guard.
The Knicks were expected to make a push for Steve Nash, but Nash chose the Lakers citing proximity to family.
