Knicks Rumors Roundup: The Latest On Samuel Dalembert, Amare Stoudemire, & More

With the Knicks’ continued struggles, the rumor mill has seemingly gone into overdrive…let’s take a look at the latest Knicks rumors:

SAMUEL DALEMBERT

The New York Knicks have been the biggest disappointment in the NBA this season, and while the team hasn’t given up on the year, but they have already started to plan ahead.

The Knicks have avoided a fire-sale of their roster, they could get rid of center Samuel Dalembert to save some money.

He was guaranteed only $1.8 million of his $3.8 million contract, meaning New York could save $2 million by waiving him before contracts become non-guaranteed contracts become fully guaranteed on January 10.

“Maybe you know more than me,’’ Dalembert said of the situation. “I love it here. I love the team we have. Unfortunately we’re going through what we’re going through right now. It’s a great organization. I would love for my career to finish here, but it’s business. A lot of times it’s beyond your control. I’ll still see how it goes and enjoy the time.’’

AMARE STOUDEMIRE

Stoudemire expressed his mounting frustration with the Knicks on Sunday prior to New York's loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.

"It's beyond my imagination at this point," he said. "I never thought I'd see this. ... This is definitely kind of mind-boggling."

The Knicks (5-31) have the most losses in the NBA, and are now one loss shy of tying the franchise mark of 12 straight defeats, last done in 1984-85. New York has already set the record for consecutive home losses (10).

OTHER NOTES

The New York Knicks' record will likely mean a lot of playing time for developing young players at Madison Square Garden, and Knicks president Phil Jackson has one player on the team’s D-League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks, who he’d like to make room for.

6-foot-2 point guard Langston Galloway was a standout for the team’s NBA Summer League squad and has been tearing it up at Westchester, and Jackson is reportedly mulling over Galloway as the team’s potential future point guard in the triangle offense.

Teams can begin issuing ten-day contracts as early as January 5th, and Galloway’s agent, Michael Siegel, believes his client will find an NBA role sooner rather than later.

“I’m confident he’ll get his chance this season,” Siegel told The Post. “Who that team is, whether it’s the Knicks or not, I don’t know.”
