The Knicks might have ended their losing streak, but the questions surrounding the team haven't gone anywhere. Here's the latest from the rumor mill, as of Sunday afternoon:
Iman Shumpert
Shumpert's dislocated left shoulder has him out indefinitely, and we're hearing that he'll miss between three weeks and a month. New York's game against Milwaukee on January 15 looks like his most likely return date at this stage.
J.R. Smith
Smith's MRI revealed a small partial tear of the plantar fascia, the connective tissue that supports the arch of the foot. In the grand scheme of things, this is a fairly positive diagnosis - Smith will be listed as day-to-day, and is not expected to miss significant time.
Stephen Curry
How would things in New York be different if the Knicks had drafted Curry back in 2009? Former GM Donnie Walsh revealed Saturday that Curry desperately wanted to be a Knick, and his agent reached out multiple times to tell the franchise he wanted to land there. Curry had even refused to work out for Golden State...which is now 20-2 with Curry leading the MVP race.
Carmelo Anthony
We're again hearing that the Knicks won't even consider trading Carmelo this year, and even if he hypothetically waived his no-trade clause, there are no teams willing to take on his contract at the moment.
