In today's Knicks rumors and news update, the New York Knicks had to sit back on Sunday and listen to reports that their prized free agent, Carmelo Anthony, was hooping it up in LA with Kobe Bryant and potential Lakers trade target, Kevin Love.
However, according to Sam Amick of USA Today, rumors of their game of pickup basketball on campus at UCLA were either completely fabricated or greatly exaggerated:
The Kobe-Carmelo Anthony-Kevin Love pickup game tweets that went viral from UCLA reps were non-eyewitness accounts, I'm told. 3rd hand.

In fact, one UCLA official indicates that it was just Kobe who was shooting around on campus on Sunday:
A UCLA official confirms only that Kobe was there today, and that Carmelo worked out there last week. Nothing more. — Sam Amick (@sam_amick) July 7, 2014
And, as Amick is quick to point out, even if there was a pickup basketball game involving the three superstars, it would coincide with business as usual at UCLA during the summer:
It should be noted, too, that even if they did all three hoop it up at UCLA, that's a regular occurrence this time of year in those parts.

So, in the end, we may be right back where we started with Melo - the Knicks as favorites to re-sign him with some order of the Lakers, Bulls, Rockets, and Mavericks following close behind.
