In today's Knicks rumors and news update, reports are indicating that the New York Knicks will not accept Chicago Bulls forward Carlos Boozer and his $16.8 million contract in a sign-and-trade for Carmelo Anthony.
According to ESPN's Chris Broussard (via Charles Curtis of NJ.com), "the Bulls would want to include Boozer in such a deal because it would allow them to avoid amnestying him and his $16.8 million salary and would also enable them to pay Anthony more money. But the Knicks, according to sources, will not cooperate with any plan that involves them taking back Boozer."
Boozer is coming off a 2013-14 season where he averaged 13.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. The 12-year veteran's salary presents a lot of troubles financially from a trade perspective, however it does expire after the 2014-15 season - facilitating a wealth of cap space during the 2015 offseason for any team that decides to deal for him.
The Knicks could use said contract as a potential trade asset or to make a splash in the 2015 free agency market, but it doesn't look like New York Knicks president Phil Jackson is interested in such a move at this time.
