In today's Knicks rumors update, the New York Knicks may have to play catch-up when it comes to attempting to retain the services of superstar Carmelo Anthony.
Per Adam Zagoria of The Knicks Blog, "the Chicago Bulls are the most likely landing spot for Carmelo Anthony, a league source told SNY.TV and The Knicks Blog."
"Assuming he follows through with his plan to opt-out by Monday’s deadline, Anthony could either sign with the Bulls for less money than he is due to make with the Knicks ($129 million over five years) or be moved to Chicago in a sign-and-trade deal," Zagoria added in an article posted on Friday.
The unnamed source gave SNY.TV and The Knicks Blog insight into Anthony's thinking on the situation.
“He is looking to leave if one of the teams he likes can get a deal done with New York,” the source said. “He knows New York is not good enough the way they are currently constructed. Melo wants to win now. He will move if he feels that team can win.”
Per ESPN's Brian Windhorst, the Knicks could land Carlos Boozer and either the Bulls' 16th or 19th overall pick in a sign-and-trade. The Bulls would make the draft pick for the Knicks and trade him to New York after the draft.
Chat Sports will have more on this developing situation as additional information is made available.
