In Knicks rumors today, the New York Knicks, under new team president Phil Jackson, may look to sign one of Phil Jackson's former Los Angeles Lakers standouts, with the deal perhaps coming before the end of the season.
According to ESPN.com's Marc Stein, by way of FootBasket.com, the New York Knicks "have expressed interest in signing free agent forward Lamar Odom," who last played professional basketball in the Spanish League with Laboral Kutxa.
The alert sent out by ESPN.com's text alert service did not specify if the New York Knicks will wait until the end of their 2013-14 NBA season before making a serious overture to Odom.
Lamar Odom's star has dimmed considerably since his time with the Los Angeles Lakers, sputtering through stints with the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers before landing in the Spanish League this season.
If Phil Jackson is intent on signing Odom, it will probably be under the pretense that Jackson can reignite the fire inside Odom which had him pegged for superstar status by many analysts just a few seasons back.
