The New York Knicks were blown out by the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday afternoon in J.R. Smith's and Iman Shumpert's return to Madison Square Garden since being traded from New York, causing both players to reflect on their time there.
The Knicks are undergoing a massive rebuilding project they hope will be sped up by signing one or two marquee free agents this offseason, but many think New York's terrible season makes them a less appealing destination.
Shumpert disagrees:
“Without a doubt, I mean it’s New York and I think that the guys in their locker room are happy to be playing here. They’re working. Of course, it’s been a tough year but I don’t think anybody dislikes basketball now that they lost a few games. Most of the guys in the locker room have probably won most of their life, so it’s a new feeling but you just gotta learn from it, just gotta try to continue to get better.”
