The New York Knicks' interest in acquiring one of two game-changing big men - Memphis' Marc Gasol and Portland's LaMarcus Aldridge - has been well-known in NBA circles for some time. However, with the Knicks struggling to the put the pieces they already have together in 2014-15, one writer believes New York's window to land either dynamic player could very well be closed.
Here's Marc Berman of the New York Post with his assessment of the Knicks' chances of landing either coveted big man in the summer of 2015:
Perhaps Aldridge will join the Knicks this summer, but more likely he will stay in Portland, just like center Marc Gasol will stay in Memphis.
Why would Aldridge or Gasol accept less money to join a franchise with one of the league’s bottom three records? The Post reported Friday the Knicks realize the odds are stacked against them for Gasol.
Things have been so trouble so far for the Knicks this season that fans have started a #LoseMoreForOkafor hashtag to implore the team to tank. However, Berman believes that a turnaround this season will be essential in establishing the franchise as a true player in free agency come next July.
