Knicks News: Former Knick Jim Cleamons wants to return as assistant

In tonight's edition of Knicks news, former New York Knicks player and Phil Jackson's former right hand man Jim Cleamons wants to return to the team for the 2014-15 NBA season.

According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, "Cleamons, the former Knicks starting point guard, and Jackson were teammates in New York in the late 1970’s. From there, Cleamons became Jackson’s right-hand man on the bench for nine of the Zen Master’s 11 coaching titles — four with the Bulls and all five with the Lakers."

Cleamons is currently an assistant on the Milwaukee Bucks' coaching staff and could be brought in as a top assistant whether or not the Knicks decide to retain head coach Mike Woodson.

Per an NBA source cited by Berman, "Cleamons is interested in rejoining Jackson’s Knicks in any capacity. Already, former Bulls personnel man, Clarence Gaines Jr. is on board with the Knicks in an unnamed front-office job and was in Portsmouth, Va. with team brass this week for the second day of an important pre-draft camp."

This may be just the very beginning of Phil Jackson putting his imprint on the Knicks -- with less and less of a chance being given to Mike Woodson by many NBA analysts for a return.
